I think the Internet has been really great in bringing and connecting lots of people from all over the world and to an extent, I see my blog as a small village or community. It’s basically me narrating my stories or giving out tips to my readers and you absorbing them, encouraging me and making me want to do better. I know that if I hear that something bad happened to any of my readers or to some of the people whose blog I read, I’ll be genuinely concerned even if we’ve never met. The blogosphere has just become such an important part of my life. You get my vibe? That’s why I’m introducing the ‘get to know a reader’ tag on the blog. So let’s talk about this tag.
Although it’ll be a pleasure for me to get to know my readers, this tag would focus mainly on the brands of said readers. I know the blog focuses mainly on hair related subjects but that’s why this isn’t about me. I’ll like for other readers to get to know each other, your upcoming brands, blogs, your passions and things like that, hair related or not. Its a show of support and it’s totally free by the way as any sponsored post will be tagged as such. It’s just a way for the people of this village to interact and grow. You can be part of this by sending me a mail at Naturalgirlonabudget@gmail.com.
I’ll be kicking it off this week with a reader and a brand that’s very dear to my small heart. This post would be very bias because it’s about someone I’ve known for years and years. Without further ado, meet Serah Kassim.
Lets meet you..
Serah: My Name is Serah Kassim. I’m the creative director for SKbyserahKassim, a growing fashion line in Nigeria. Birthday is March 28 (incase anyone still has a gift in store for me). I am a graduate of Botany from the university of Lagos (University of first choice lol). I’m from Ogun state (Ijebuode to be precise but I’m nothing close to stingy). I am an Amala lover, very playful and I love sleeeeep tooo (really hope there is a national sleep day).
We bond over our love for Amala and sleep among other things.. If you were to describe yourself in one sentence what will it be?
Serah : I’m pretty easy going.
I agree with that. Everybody that knows Serah loves her! She never forgets a birthday and is always there for the ups and downs. Tell us about your brand and what it signifies.
Serah: Officially I started out this year and its been pretty cool. Skbyserahkassim is a women’s wear brand made in Nigeria. It is a reflection of what I am, playful yet stylish.
How did you find or fall in love with your passion?
Serah: My Love for fashion started out pretty early, my grandma was a tailor (popularly called tailor Abe petese meaning tailor under the staircase) and my mum is too and so is my younger brother who is a fashion designer. So you see, I was born into it.
What inspires you?
Serah: My greatest inspiration is my Mum, brother and my friends (thankful for amazing friends).
Aww.. Yes I know I’m one of the amazing friends lol. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
Serah: In 5years, I want to own the largest RTW line in Nigeria and I hope to be married (IJN Big grin) .
Lol this marriage issue. I pray you get all you desire and more. How did you come across the blog and why do you keep reading it?
Serah: I didn’t come across the blog oh, I’m part owner of the blog. I practically sleep on the blog *laughing smiley*. The blog is very educative and really cool, even though I am a lazy natural. I like the fact that it teaches us how to be our own stylist. Thank you Ella *blows a kiss*you got yourself a Fan.
Hahaha. Thank you Serah for this interview. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did? Don’t forget to send me a mail to get your own story up there. I believe the beauty is in the
hustle journey so you don’t have to be there yet because as long as you have a clear vision of where you’re going, you’ll be alright.
You can get familiar and connect with the brand via the official Instagram page: @skbyserahkassim.
